Historical play by English playwright Ava Pickett who won the 2024 Susan Smith Blackburn prize for female, transgender and non-binary playwrights.
First shown at London's Almeida Theatre in May 2025 it tells the story of three everyday Essex women who gather in a field to gossip about the news from London as Anne Boleyn is tried for high treason.
Siena Kelly and Adam Hugill both had leading roles.
The official synopsis reads "As these women realise the parallels between their ordinary, rural lives and the royal drama taking place at a distance, they are faced with several choices, all of which end in violence...this fiendishly smart and funny new play asks whether female solidarity can survive in a world where barbarism and misogyny are state sanctioned."
