2001 film based on the best-selling book by Louis de Bernieres. Set on the Greek Island of Cephalonia, tells the story of the jovial and musical Captain Antonio Corelli who is an Italian officer stationed on the island during the Second World War, who falls in love with Pelagia, the daughter of the village doctor. Despite intital reservations, the villagers gradually accept him and his troop into their lives, but as the reality of war gets ever closer, Antonio and Pelagia are forced to choose between their allegiances to their countries and their love for each other. Nicholas Cage starred as Antonio Corelli, with Penelope Cruz playing Pelagia. Also starred John Hurt, Christian Bale and David Morrissey.
