10-part coming of age, tween comedy drama series which aired on BBC Three in 2025 which follows the lives of a group of youngsters growing up in a thriving, multicultural community on a fictional urban housing estate as they navigate the complexities of social politics, peer pressure and identity. They must all try to find a place for themselves in a world teeming with possibilities but fraught with danger. Crongton uses a mixture of live action and animation to illustrate the decisions the youngsters make when they find themselves in challenging situations.
Sutara Gayle played 'Gran', grandmother of lead character Lemar AKA 'Liccle Bit'. The show seeks to celebrate the roles played by matriarchs in a community like Crongton, keeping the children in check.
The series is an adaptation of the series of books by lauded novelist Alex Wheatle, who won the Guardian children’s fiction prize in 2016 with his second Crongton book.
