Epic play by American playwright Rajiv Joseph, set in Russia (as well as Poland and East Germany) over the course of 90 years, which traces the stories of seven men and women connected by history, myth and conspiracy theories. Performed at London's Hampstead Theatre in 2019.
The play opens with Russian writer Isaac Babel meeting Nikolai Yezhov - a Red Army soldier who'll later become head of the Soviet secret police and "Stalin's bulldog". The theme of the play is established early on when both men 'describe the night', but both do it very differently, begging the question is there such a thing as objective truth.
The play won an Obie Award for Best New American play.
Siena Kelly played Urszula.
