Much loved British historical drama series which ran on ITV for 6 series between 2010 and 2015. The show followed the ups and downs of the aristocratic Crawley family at their palatial Yorkshire home Downton Abbey, as well as their loyal domestic servants. Set in the late 19th and early 20th Century, the show ran for fifty-two episodes including five Christmas specials.
Starred Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham and Elizabeth McGovern as his American wife Cora. Also Michelle Dockery as their eldest daughter Lady Mary and Laura Carmichael as her sister Lady Edith. Dame Maggie Smith starred as the Dowager Countess Violet. Jim Carter played butler Mr Carson, Phyllis Logan played housekeeper Mrs Hughes and Brendan Coyle played Mr Bates. Dan Smith played Matthew Crawley, Lady Mary's love interest.
