Written by Martin McDonagh, Hangmen premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in September 2015 and then transferred to the West End's Wyndham's Theatre for a 3 month run from December 2015. The play is set in 1965 and tells the story of Harry Wade who is the second best hangman in the land and centres around the abolition of the death penalty in England. David Morrissey starred as Harry Wade, alongside Johnny Flynn and Sally Rogers. Won Best New Play at the 2016 Laurence Olivier Awards, as well as the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards.
