Critically-acclaimed winner of three 2018 Olivier awards including Best New Play and Best Director, The Ferryman originally ran at the Royal Court in London, becoming their fastest-selling show ever. It then moved to the West End's Gielgud Theatre. The production was transferred to Broadway in late 2018 and there won four Tony Awards, including Best Play.
Directed by Olivier award-winning Sam Mendes and written by Jez Butterworth, the play is set in Northern Ireland in 1981 and tells the story of the Carney family as they celebrate the harvest feast...but are interrupted by a visitor.
Laura Donelly (whose family the play is inspired by) played Caitlin Carney in the Royal Court & West End productions. Sean Delaney starred as Micheal Carney in the West End and Broadway productions.
Laura Donnelly won a Best Actress Olivier Award for her performance and was also nominated for a Best Actress Tony Award.
