Charming comedy from BBC Films & Tristar Productions, starring Dame Maggie Smith as 'Miss Shepherd' who lives in her Bedford van, which she parks up on a driveway in a smart London neighbourhood owned by Alan Bennett (played by Alex Jennings). The pair gradually form an unlikely friendship. The story is biographical, written by Alan Bennett as a memoir to Miss Shepherd who lived on his driveway for 15 years. Directed by Nicholas Hytner and nominated for a BAFTA Film Award, as well as winning an Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Actress for Maggie Smith. Samuel Barnett appeared in the film as Donald and Sacha Dhawan played the Gloucester Crescent doctor.
