6-part ITV drama series based on the 1978 novel by J. G. Farrell. Tells the story of a British family living in Singapore at the time of the Japanese invasion during World War II. Walter Blackett controls a major trading company and is keen for his daughter to marry his business partner's son, Matthew. However Matthew becomes involved with a mysterious Chinese woman, but are forced to part during the invasion. Stars David Morrissey as Walter Blackett, Charles Dance and Luke Treadaway.
