ITV has just announced that Morven Christie will star as the lead in its latest crime thriller series 'Payback'. She will play Lexie Noble in the 6-part thriller which is scheduled for release in 2023.
The compelling character-led series follows Lexie as she becomes entangled in a risky police operation to oust notorious crime lord Cal Morris when it is revealed that her husband has been laundering Morris's illegal earnings. The investigating detectives are determined to use the Noble family to bring Morris to justice. Peter Mullan will star as Cal Morris.
Morven commented, “I fell in love with Lexie from the first page, and I’m absolutely delighted to be working with Peter and this wonderful team in my hometown.”
The series will be produced by Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio and has been written by Debbie O’Malley who is known for her work on Call the Midwife, Humans and Harlots. The series has recently been filming in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill, commented "Payback is a brilliant thriller which questions how well you know your partner and as the secrets come out, asks who you can trust. Debbie has written compelling scripts that will keep the audience hooked and surprised. I’m delighted to be working with Morven Christie again, and of course Jed Mercurio and Madonna Baptiste at HTM Television.”
