Mark Ravenhill's new play 'Ben and Imo' opens tonight at Stratford-Upon-Avon's Swan Theatre.

It stars Samuel Bennett as composer Benjamin Britten, one of the 20th Century's greatest composers.  The play follows his working relationship with the exuberant and passionate Imogen Holst (played by Victoria Yeates), daughter of Gustav and an accomplished musician in her own right. Her support becomes invaluable as he writes the opera 'Gloriana' to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Their brilliant but often turbulent working relationship created a bond that lasted for the rest of their lives.

The play was first written as a radio play for BBC Radio Three, performed in 2013, but this is its stage premiere.

Watch the preview trailer and book tickets.   On until 6th April 2024.
