The second series of Sky's award-winning 1960s comedy-drama Funny Woman starts tonight, Friday 6th September, on Sky Max at 9pm.
The show sees the return of Gemma Arterton as Barbara Parker, known to the public as charismatic comedian Sophie Straw, who is riding high as the nation's most loved comedy star...but things take a turn when her new sitcom flops and her romance with Dennis is complicated by delays with his divorce. However a successful film career in Hollywood beckons when her film, in which she stars opposite a glamorous French heart-throb, is a huge hit.
Alistair Petrie is back in his role as Head of Light Entertainment at the BBC, Ted Sargent, who is reluctantly supportive of Sophie, despite his somewhat chauvinistic views of women on TV. Gemma Whelan joins the cast as Lynda Jay, a manipulative tabloid journalist who’ll do anything for a scoop.
Watch the trailer and tune in to Sky Max tonight at 9pm for the first episode, with further episodes weekly at the same time. All 6 episodes will also be available on Sky Boxsets.
Gemma Whelan and Alistair Petrie are available for voiceovers from Anthea Represents. Click their images for their profile pages and voiceover showreels.
