Spanish adventure thriller series 'La Fortuna' starring T'Nia Miller premiered in the at the San Sebastian Film Festival at the weekend

The 6-part series is about the ill-fated historical voyage of the shipwrecked 'Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes', a ship sunk by the Royal Navy in 1804 off the Atlantic coast of Spain. The long-awaited series premiered in the official selection at the San Sebastian Film Festival at the weekend. 

Award-winning actress T'Nia Miller stars as lawyer Susan McLean, who is representing Frank Wild (played by Stanley Tucci) whose company locates the wreck and claims its $500 million treasure.  Legal wranglings ensue over the ownership of the biggest sunken treasure trove in history.  A tense courtroom battle follows, which expands from Atlanta to Washington, with T'Nia's character at the centre of it. 

Álvaro Mel and Clarke Peters (The Wire) also star. 

'La Fortuna' is the first TV series from Alejandro Amenábar, one of Spain’s greatest filmmakers who won a foreign-language film Academy Award for 'The Sea Inside'.  

Movistar+ will release the series in Spain whereas AMC will broadcast the series in the US, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America.  The UK release date & broadcaster are yet to be announced.
