Sammy Dobson is a Newcastle born & bred comedian and actress and one of the UK’s brightest new talents.
Her TV credits include the hit BBC comedy ‘Boy Meets Girl’ and more recently Dave’s award-winning comedy ‘Meet the Richardsons’ which has featured cameos from many comedians over the years including Russell Kane, Sally Phillips and Rob Beckett.
She appeared in Ken Loach’s BAFTA winning film ‘I, Daniel Blake’ in 2016 which also won a BIFA and a Palme D’Or at Cannes. Prior to that she also had a role in the comedy film ‘Almost Married’ which starred Emily Atack and was nominated for Best Comedy at the National Film Awards.
She has had roles in a number of high profile TV programmes including ‘Inspector George Gently’, the TV movie ‘Joe Maddison’s War’ which also starred Robson Green and Derek Jacobi and at the age of 14 she starred as Sarah Young in Byker Grove.
She is increasingly focusing on her stand-up comedy. She has legions of fans in her hometown of Newcastle and is garnering a reputation as a ‘must see act’. She has performed in some of the UK’s top comedy venues and has also appeared at the Edinburgh Festival.
Sammy has a native Newcastle accent.
