Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's epic rock-opera musical loosely based on the Gospel's accounts of the passion of Jesus. Much of the plot centres on Judas, who is dissatisfied with the direction in which Jesus is steering his disciples. In 2016 the show was revived 45 years after its original Broadway debut and brought to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre to critical acclaim, winning the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival. The production also won the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. Starred Declan Bennett as Jesus, Tyrone Huntley as Judas and Genesis Lynea in the ensemble.
The show returned to Regent's Park in 2017 and 2020 with much of the same cast.
