Bermudian-born, Genesis Lynea is a multi-talented actor, singer and dancer who has had major roles in some of the biggest TV shows and hit musicals of the last few years. This includes joining the cast of the BBC's 'Silent Witness' in Series 24 in 2021 as the newest member of the team, forensic ecologist Simone Tyler. She also starred in the 25th anniversary series of the show in 2022.
Had a guest starring appearance in the penultimate 2 episodes of the recent (2024) series of Doctor Who, playing Harriet Arbinger, opposite Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor. In 2023 she starred in ITVX's emotionally charged relationship drama 'You & Me', playing Dee who is central character Ben's ever-patient boss, and a guiding light for him throughout the story. Also in 2023 she played major character Tayo in the BBC's musical drama series 'Champion' which followed siblings Vita and Bosco Champion who are fighting to get ahead in the music industry.
In 2022 she starred as Sam in HBO/Sky’s new comedy-horror series ‘The Baby’. Also in 2022 she starred as vampire Geraldine Newcopse in Series Three of ‘A Discovery of Witches’ on Sky Max. Prior to that in 2021 she appeared in Series One of Netflix’s ‘Shadow and Bone’ as Natacha.
She is an exceptional singer and known for her many appearances in musicals including ‘The Bodyguard’, ‘Bend it Like Beckham: The Musical’, ‘In the Heights’ and the 2016 Regent’s Park production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ which won ‘Best Musical Revival’ at the following year’s Olivier Awards. She played the starring role of ‘Anna of Cleves’ in the original cast of ‘Six’, which is a modern retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII. She also performed as one of the lead vocalists on the original cast Six studio album which sold over 100,000 copies in the UK and has recently hit 100 million streams worldwide, making it the second most-streamed musical theatre album in the world. Also on stage, she played the lead role in ‘Sylvia’ at the Old Vic in 2018, a soul, funk and hip hop musical based on the life of Sylvia Pankhurst.
She is also recognisable for her regular role as Archie in the BBC’s ‘Casualty’, a part she played from 2019-2020. And in 2018 she played the leading role of Miss Maddie Harper in series 7 and 8 of CBBC’s 4 O'Clock Club series.
She has starred in a number of award-winning short films including ‘Cost of Living’ which was shortlisted at the 2021 Raindance Film Festival and ‘How Can I Forget’ for which she won Best Actress in a Short Film at the 2020 Maverick Movie Awards.
Genesis’s natural accent is Neutral British with hints of London, Bermudian and American. At times she can be described as Mid-Atlantic or she can sound seamlessly native in any one of these.
