Genesis Lynea joined the cast of the hugely popular forensic crime drama last series as Dr. Simone Tyler, an forensic ecologist, who despite initial reservations has joined the team at the Lyell Centre. The much anticipated series 25 of the show will premiere on BBC One on Monday 23rd May at 9pm with 6 new episodes.
In a recent interview Genesis talked about what attracted her to the role saying, "I love the fact that Simone is an awkward, nerdy but passionate person who is bringing her skills to the forensic world. It shows the team is willing to explore something new, and it’s really exciting to explore that."
Genesis was in attendance alongside the rest of the cast, including Emilia Fox and David Caves, at the Series 25 launch last week in London's West End. Also in attendance was Amanda Burton who is returning to the show after 17 years, as Professor Sam Ryan.
The BBC has released a trailer for the new 25th anniversary series in which we see the Lyell team called in to investigate the shooting of a top professor. We also see a new romance unfolding between lead characters Nikki and Jack.
The new series will also delve into Simone's past with Genesis commenting, "Simone’s back story comes back and bites her on the nose. Does she ignore it and shove it under the carpet, or face it even though it really hurts? I’m glad she goes towards the pain. She is replaying incidents from her past which explain who she is today. It’s heavy, but it’s great that we can do that on Silent Witness."
