'Unseen Unheard: The untold breast cancer stories of Black women in the UK' is a new play based on the experiences of Black British women and their journeys with breast cancer. The play opens for a limited run at Theatre Peckham tomorrow, Thursday 27th April.
The play is based on the stories of six women from Black Women Rising (BWR), a pioneering cancer support project founded by The Leanne Pero Foundation, that seeks to address the inequalities faced by Black women undergoing cancer treatment. Set in real time on a normal evening the six women gather to unravel their shared experiences of the abnormality that Black women experience through their diagnosis. Genesis Lynea plays one of these women, Lily.
The play is written by trailblazing playwright, Naomi Denny.
The play opens tomorrow night, Thursday 27th April, and runs until Thursday 4th May. Funds raised from ticket sales will be donated to Black Women Rising.
Genesis Lynea is available for voiceovers from Anthea Represents. Click her image for her profile page and voiceover showreel.
