This was the UK's first film about the sensitive issue of honour killing from the perspective of the perpetrator (played by Narinder Samra). Tells the story of a British-Asian famiy living in Birmingham. The children have been brought up as English with Western values which increasingly clash with their father's traditional roots. When daughter Saira starts dating a British man this causes a terrible divide in the family, as she is being lined up for an arranged marriage in India by her uncle.
The film received numerous nominations and awards on the International Film Festival circuit with Narinder winning Best Actor at the Reelheart International Film Festival, Toronto for his lead role. The film also won the Best Film in English at the prestigious National Film Awards of India.
