BBC/Netflix drama set in Anglo Saxon England during the reign of King Alfred the Great and based on the novels by Bernard Cornwell. The series ran for 5 seasons from 2015-2022, with the first two series being broadcast by BBC Two and the final three by Netflix.
Starred Alexander Dreymon as Uhtred, David Dawson as King Alfred and Emily Cox as Brida. In series 2-5 James Northcote played Aldhelm who is a senior advisor and right hand man to Lord Aethelred, who later moves his allegiances to Lady Aethelred. Also in series 2-5 Jeppe Beck Laursen played the Danish warrior Hæsten.
