Brand new play by Stella Fehily which premiered at London's Hampstead Theatre in 2024. Set in 1950s Boston the play tells the incredible story of Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, one of the most eminent astronomers of the twentieth century and the first female professor at Harvard. The play teaches us about her ground-breaking discovery that stars are made from hydrogen whilst unveiling the prejudices that stood in her way.
Steffan Cennydd starred as journalist Norman, a passionate anti-communist, who makes it his mission to expose Payne-Gaposchkin as a supposed communist sympathiser (her husband was Russian) and prevent her becoming Chair of the Department of Astronomy, using his student girlfriend Sally to launch a covert investigation. He also plays Harvard's Professor Varney.
