Historical fiction French drama series, produced by Canal + and shown on BBC2. Based around the true story of King Louis XIV who built the historic palace of Versailles in 1667. Designed to be the greatest palace in the world, the project becomes challenging due to financial problems, political issues and private affairs. Ran for 3 seasons and starred George Blagden as King Louis XIV. It is the most expensive French television series of all time.
