Channel 4’s 14th century mini series set during the Black Death and the Hundred Years War, based on the novel by Ken Follett.
The series chronicled the lives of ordinary medieval subjects with Charlotte Riley playing the female lead, Caris Wooler, a visionary woman who, together with her lover, builds a community that stands up to the Crown and Church.
Ben Chaplin also starred as King Edward II and other notable cast members included Cynthia Nixon and Miranda Richardson.
