Alistair Petrie stars as Ted Sergeant, the powerful BBC Head of Light Entertainment in ‘Funny Woman’, premiering tonight on Sky Max and NOW

Funny Woman starts tonight, Thursday 9th February, at 9pm on Sky Max.  The 6-part comedy follows Barbara Parker, a Blackpool beauty queen (played by Gemma Arterton) who arrives in 1960s London hoping to break into the male-dominated world of TV sitcoms.  

Alistair Petrie plays Ted Sargeant who is the all-powerful Head of Light Entertainment at the BBC who can make and break Barbara's career, making her life a lot more difficult. He is described as the "prime antagonist" to Barbara's ambitions. 

The series is based on the novel 'Funny Girl' by Nick Hornby and has been adapted for TV by Nick Hornby and Morwenna Banks.
