The BBC's coming of age drama 'In My Skin' won 3 BAFTA Cymru Awards at Sunday night's ceremony. The series won Best TV Drama, Best Director: Fiction and Best Writer at the Awards which took place at Cardiff's St David's Hall. Laura Checkley attended the Awards with the rest of the cast and said on Instagram afterwards "I really love this lot and it was the perfect ending to what has been a very special journey. Endlessly proud to be a part of it." Laura plays outspoken, openly gay PE teacher, Mrs Blocker, who takes Bethan under her wing.
'In My Skin', which is set in Cardiff, won 2 BAFTA Cymru Awards for the first series back in 2020, and the second series won Best TV Drama Series and Best Writer at this year's BAFTAs.
In a busy week for BAFTA, the nominations for BAFTA Scotland's Awards were announced this morning, with 'Screw' receiving a nomination for Best Television (Scripted). The prison comedy drama was shown on Channel 4 in 2021 and a second series has been confirmed and will air in 2023. Laura will return as no-nonsense prison guard Jackie.
