It has been announced that BAFTA nominee Sọpẹ́ Dìrísù will play the lead in 'Rhinoceros', a brand new production which will premiere at London's Almeida Theatre in March 2025.
The play is set in provincial France where two friends are meeting for a drink. However things take an unexpected turn when they see a rhinoceros charging into the town square. It quickly becomes apparent that the town is seeing an epidemic of 'Rhinoceritis', transforming the townspeople into rhinos until there are hardly any humans left.
The "absurdist satire" written by Eugène Ionesco is "about resisting conformity and holding onto what’s left of our humanity as we resist the rumbling power of the herd". This new production is translated and written by Omar Elerian.
From 25th March until 26th April. Tickets on sale now.
