Gripping drama series 'The Teacher' returns for a second series on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm. The latest series in the anthology sees a brand new cast, with Emmett J. Scanlan playing a leading role.
The 4-parter sees Emmett star as PE teacher Tim who is unhappily married to fellow teacher Dani, played by Kara Tointon. The drama unfolds on a school trip when a spontaneous moment of passion between Dani and colleague Jimmy Spencer (played by Will Mellor) results in disaster when a troubled teenage boy goes missing, and is subsequently found dead.
The official synopsis reads "The disastrous consequences of Dani’s actions put her career in jeopardy, and she finds herself at the centre of a mystery that she becomes determined to unravel."
Emmett was recently interviewed about his character saying, "He’s in a terrible place. Estranged and distant from his wife, they haven’t touched each other in ages. He’s vulnerable. He’s lost. He’s hurting. I think he is good at articulating his feelings. But I feel he’s in a place where he can’t. That’s damaging. It’s hurting him on the inside, which in turn is slowly killing him." Channel 5 has released this promo to introduce us to Tim which reveals that he may be hiding secrets of his own.
The first episode airs tonight, with the remaining episodes broadcast on consecutive nights this week on Channel 5. All episodes will also be available to stream on My5. Watch the trailer.
Emmett has also recently starred in the third series of ITV's The Tower, with all episodes currently streaming on ITVX.
