Emmett is well known for his role in the BAFTA winning BBC drama Peaky Blinders, in which he starred in Series 5 & 6. He played former professional footballer turned gang member Billy Grade.   He was nominated for an Irish Academy Award in both 2022 for Best Supporting Actor in the Dublin-based crime drama ‘Kin’ about a family of Irish gangsters.  He played Jimmy, one of the brothers in the notorious Kinsella gang, who loses his innocent son in the crossfire of a gangland war.  A second series of the award winning drama ran on BBC One in 2024 and he received a second IFTA Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role. 

He played a leading role in all 3 series of ITV crime drama 'The Tower', playing police boss DI Kieran Shaw, starring alongside Gemma Whelan and Jimmy Akingbola. The first series (2021) followed the investigation into the deaths of a veteran police officer and a teenage girl who fall from the top of a south east London tower block. A second series of the Tower entitled 'The Tower II: Death Message' was released in 2023, with a third series released in 2024. 

2024 also saw him with a leading role in the second series of Channel 5 anthology 'The Teacher.  He played PE teacher Tim who is unhappily married to a fellow teacher (played by Kara Tointon) whose spontaneous moment on a school trip has tragic consequences. 

At the start of 2024 he starred in the hit Netflix Harlan Coben adaptation 'Fool Me Once', opposite Michelle Keegan, Richard Armitage, Joanna Lumley and Adeel Akhtar.  He played Shane Tessier, best friend and confidante of Michelle Keegan's character Maya in the 8-part crime thriller series. 

In 2022 he had a part in the final series of the much loved Northern Irish comedy 'Derry Girls', appearing as 'Madstab', and he also appeared in the Amazon Prime comedy series 'Ten Percent', the British adaptation of the French Netflix hit 'Call My Agent'.  He played Marcus Macleod in the 8-part series about a top London talent agency. 

Also in 2022 he played the lead in the atmospheric period drama film 'Lapwing' set in Lincolnshire in the 16th Century. 

In 2020 he starred in the C5 crime drama ‘The Deceived’ as well as playing Jack O'Doherty in HBO/Sky Atlantic’s ‘Gangs of London’.  He has a long list of other TV and film credits, spanning the last decade, including Sharon Horgan’s ‘Women on the Verge’, ‘Butterfly’ opposite Anna Friel, Harlan Coben’s crime drama ‘Safe’ and BBC thriller ‘The ‘Fall’ with Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson. 

He also played the part of Sindri in the animation ‘Legends of Valhalla: Thor’.  

Emmett was born in Dublin and his natural accent is Southern Irish.
