Two of our artists, Laura Donnelly and Emmett J. Scanlan, have been nominated for accolades in upcoming Awards ceremonies.
Laura has been nominated for a Best Actress Olivier Award for her “brilliant” performance in Jez Butterworth’s 'The Hills of California’ which is on now at London's Harold Pinter Theatre, directed by Sam Mendes. She stars as matriarch Veronica whose daughters have gathered at her deathbed at her run-down Blackpool guesthouse in 1976. The play has also been nominated for 'Best New Play'.
In a hotly contested category she will go head to head against Sarah Jessica Parker, Sheridan Smith, Sophie Okonedo and Sarah Snook, with the ceremony taking place in London on Sunday 14th April at the Royal Albert Hall.
Emmett J. Scanlan has been nominated for a Best Supporting Actor IFTA (Irish Film and Television Awards) for his “incredible” performance in Series 2 of Irish crime drama Kin. He plays Jimmy Kinsella, a central member of a notorious Dublin gang family. Both series of the show are available now on BBC iPlayer. This is his second Best Supporting Actor IFTA nomination for his performance in Kin, having been nominated in 2023 for Series One.
He is up against fellow Kin actor Aidan Gillen, as well as Richard Dormer, Jared Harris, Aaron Monaghan and Simon Delaney. The 2024 IFTAs will take place on Saturday 20th April in Dublin.
