It's a big weekend for Emmett J. Scanlan who has roles in two of this weekend's major new releases.
Firstly we see him playing Viper in the new Jason Statham action thriller film which is out in cinemas today, 28th March.
The film follows Jason Statham's character, Levon Cade, an ex-Royal Marines commando, who takes matters into his own hands when his boss's teenage daughter gets kidnapped by human traffickers in league with the Russian mafia.
Viper, who has been described by one reviewer as "a genuinely unhinged monster", is one of the abductors and a key member of the Russian mob, led by Jason Flemyng's character Wolo Kolisnyk.
The film is directed by David Ayer, and a joint writing collaboration between Ayer and Sylvester Stallone who also produces the film.
On Sunday Paramount+ launches Guy Ritchie's new crime thriller series 'MobLand', which stars Pierce Brosnan, Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren. Tom Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, who works as a fixer for the Harrigans, a criminal family led by Pierce Brosnan's Conrad. Helen Mirren plays Conrad's wife Maeve, who he turns to for every crucial decision. The series kicks off with a brewing potential gang war between the Harrigans and the Stevensons, a rival gang.
Emmett has a key role to play in the series, playing Conrad Harrigan's Head of Security and right-hand-man.
Emmett was interviewed at last night's London premiere and reflected on what it was like to work with such a star-studded cast "What I have loved most about this experience is, I love the craft. I just absolutely love it. I am my happiest when I’m on set and I’m getting to dance with these giants." He went on to say "I spent my life growing up watching them and admiring them from afar and to be able to share a stage with them and be able to share dialogue and share scenes with them, to go toe to toe with them, be welcomed by them, embraced by them. It is a wonderful thing that is not lost on me."
The first episode of MobLand premieres on Paramount+ on Sunday. Watch the trailer.
