There have been three series of this ITV crime drama, based on the 'Metropolitan' series of novels by Kate London.
All three series starred Gemma Whelan and Emmett J. Scanlan in leading roles. Gemma played chief investigator DS Sarah Collins with Emmett playing dodgy, but well meaning police boss DI Kieran Shaw. Also starred Jimmy Akingbola.
Series One (2021) followed the investigation into the deaths of a veteran police officer and a teenage girl who fall from the top of a south east London tower block. One of the witnesses, a newly qualified police officer, then disappears. With DS Sarah Collins leading the investigation to discover what actually happened on the roof of the tower.
The second series (2023) 'The Tower II: Death Message', dealt with a domestic abuse case as well as the re-opening of the cold case of a missing school girl who vanished in 1997. All the main cast members from Series 1 returned to the second series, plus Tamzin Outhwaite, Niamh Cusack and Ella Smith who all joined the cast for Series 2, with Ella playing new DC Elaine Lucas.
Series Three (2024) sees Collins investigating the brutal stabbing of a teenage boy, but her investigation is soon at cross purposes with an undercover operation led by Shaw to bring down a south London drug lord, Shakiel Oliver. The focus of Sarah and Kieran’s conflict is 15-year-old Ryan Kennedy, who witnessed the fatal stabbing but is also a key part of Shakiel’s inner circle.
