Mousie is set in Germany, 1936, as the Nazis are growing in power and 'cleansing' the streets of Jews and Roma 'Gypsies'. Jack plays Otto, an awkward Nazi conscript finding his feet as a newly-empowered thug. He’s one of the twitchy ‘half-men’; not yet a fully-formed fascist, but moving from a position of ignorance to one of false superiority. This leads to an abuse of his power, witnessed by 7 year old 'Helene' a girl of Roma origin
Mousie has now appeared in 35 festivals (including Dublin International Film Festival, Oxford International Short Film Festival and Dances with Films in Los Angeles). It has won a number of awards including Best Short Film at the Capri Film Festival, the Calabria Film Festival, the Ariano Film Festival and the Festival del Cinema Citta di Spello, as well as nominations in multiple categories at the Oxford International Short Film Festival, Social World and Hamilton Film Festival (Canada).
Critics have heaped praise on the film with Jonathan Ross describing it as 'charming, timely and thought-provoking'. Other critics have called it 'Heartwarming and packs a punch', 'A beautiful and memorable short film' and 'A beautifully atmospheric film, powerful and relevant'.
Mousie's general release date is still to be confirmed but likely to be 2022.
