'Marie Antoinette' returns to BBC Two tonight with a second series which sees her and her husband Louis XVI at the height of their power but facing a financial crisis.
The 8-part series sees James Northcote join the cast as Charles Alexandre de Calonne, who was a French statesman and Louis XVI's Minister for Finance in the years leading up to the French Revolution. Clearly with a financial crisis looming over the royal couple he is going to have a major role to play. To make matters worse, Marie is also embroiled in a scandal when she's wrongly accused of stealing a diamond necklace.
This new scandal, coupled with previous scandals and gossip, as well as ongoing attacks, threaten to bring the monarchy down as revolt stirs in France.
The first episode of the new series will be shown tonight at 9pm on BBC Two, with the entire new series also available now as a boxset on BBC iPlayer. The first series is also available to stream.
James Northcote is available for voiceovers from Anthea Represents. Click his image for his profile page and voiceover showreel.
