James Northcote stars in A Clever Woman which premieres at this week's Edinburgh International Film Festival

James Northcote plays house-sitting musician, Tom, in A Clever Woman which premieres at the Edinburgh International Film Festival later today (Monday 15th August).  There will be a second screening of the film on the morning of Wednesday 17th.

The film also stars Josie Lawrence and Tanya Myers as sisters Phoebe and Dot, performance artists who return to their family home on the Isle of Wight a year after the death of their composer mother, to prepare the house for its sale.  Over the course of a day the sisters are forced to confront their complex relationship with their mother.  They are joined by house-sitter Tom as well as their producer/curator Monica (played by Anna Mottram) and together they are forced to engage with the ghosts of the past and the void left behind.

The film is described as "a celebration and a lament, Sanders and Mottram’s improvised production style lends itself perfectly to a story that is playful, raw and always surprising".
