Much-loved Ska musical 'The Big Life' returns to the stage tonight, Friday 16th February, at Theatre Royal Stratford East. The play is back at the Theatre Royal after it premiered there 20 years ago, before it transferred to the West End.
Khalid Daley stars as Dennis, one of the leads. who arrives from the West Indies with his friends, determined to make a success of themselves in a less-than-welcoming England. The young men make the bold decision to forswear wine and women for three whole years and devote themselves to their future in London. But their resolve is put to the test as the reality of life in chilly England, makes forgoing the warmth of female company hard to resist.
The story is based on Shakespeare's 'Love's Labour's Lost', set during the Windrush era to a backdrop of memorable Ska musical numbers.
