Brand new drama 'Dope Girls' lands on BBC One this Saturday night, 22nd February, at 9.15pm.
The 6-part series is set amidst the hedonistic uproar of post-World War One London and follows a newly empowered generation of women loath to return to their old lives. Instead we see a group of women exploring previously unimaginable opportunities in Soho's rapidly expanding illicit underground club scene. The BBC's official synopsis declares that "Dope Girls depicts in visceral delicious detail the birth of the modern nightlife industry guided and gilded by hard fought female endeavour."
The show stars Julianne Nicholson as Kate Galloway, a single mother who establishes a nightclub embracing a life of criminal activities with the aim of providing for her daughter. Eliza Scanlen plays Violet Davies, one of the first wave of female officers, who is assigned to go undercover and investigate this illicit world.
King Gary and Screw star Laura Checkley plays police officer Sarah Fisher, who works alongside Violet and gets dragged into the drama.
