Channel 4 has announced that their hit comedy series 'Big Mood' is to return for a second series. The show's two stars Lydia West and Nicola Couglan will both return to their respective roles as Eddie and Maggie, best friends trying to navigate life in their early 30s.
Lydia West plays bar owner Eddie whilst Nicola Couglan plays her best friend, struggling bi-polar playwright Maggie. Series One aired in 2024 to much critical acclaim:
★★★★★ "witty, gritty and honest" - The Standard
★★★★★ "Every aspect of Big Mood, from the chemistry between Coughlan and West, the sharp, comedic commentary on pop culture and social media, and the nuanced handling of mental illness is responsible for this show being a must-watch." Decider
★★★★ "sharp, singular and very funny...credit must also go to Coughlan and West, who are perfectly cast in the lead roles." - Radio Times
The synopsis for the new series reveals "At the start of Season 2, it’s been a year since Maggie and Eddie last saw each other, without any contact between them. When Eddie suddenly returns for a wedding, she isn’t alone – Maggie has competition, in the form of an infuriatingly positive spiritual healer named Whitney. Maggie needs to work out if her special brand of chaos can find space in Eddie’s new life, or she fears she will lose her forever."
"So excited to reunite with my besties and work on series 2!" Lydia exclaimed in a recent interview. Filming for the second series is due to start soon.
