A brand new production of Emlyn Williams' 1950's play 'Accolade' opens tonight at Windsor's Theatre Royal. Described as "a gripping tale of ambition, scandal, and the harsh realities that lie beneath the surface of success", it tells the story of Bill Trenting, a hugely successful author who is on the cusp of being knighted, when he is threatened with exposure for the double life he leads, frequenting bars for anonymous sex.
Narinder Samra stars as Daker, the blackmailer, who reveals himself to be the father of a 14 year-old girl who alleges she is one of Trenting's victims.
"Narinder Samra is an exhibitionist villain, purportedly the child victim's father, emitting the proprietoriness of a bailiff come to size up the value of the prize, running his hands with relish over Trenting's possessions, sobbing heartily about his child's vulnerability. But Daker is more her pimp than her protector, since she is apparently a Blue Lion regular." - The Arts Desk
"Narinder Samra makes Trenting’s prime accuser, Daker, into a complex, dangerous figure." - Stagedoor.com
The play also stars Ayden Callaghan as Trenting and Honeysuckle Weeks as his wife Rhona.
At Windsor's Theatre Royal until 15th June, then touring Cambridge, Guildford, Bath and finishing up at the Richmond Theatre from 9th-13th July.
