Brand new Agatha Christie drama 'Towards Zero' premieres on BBC One on Sunday night, 2nd March.  The 3-part murder mystery is set on the English coast in 1936 and stars Angelica Houston as matriarch Lady Tressilian who invites her nephew, tennis star Nevile Strange (played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen) and his ex-wife Audrey to stay for the summer at her coastal estate.

Recently divorced, the former childhood sweethearts have unresolved business, and tensions are further heightened by the presence of Nevile's new wife Kay. A long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge, a venerable family lawyer, an inquisitive orphan and a French con man are all added to the mix, leading inevitably to a murder. The official synopsis reads "An explosive love triangle, a formidable matriarch and a house party of enemies. All compelled… Towards Zero."

The series also stars Matthew Rhys as Inspector Leach who is called in to solve the murder.

Adam Hugill, best known for his starring role in Sherwood, plays Mac, Nevile's mysterious and enigmatic gentleman's valet.   In a recent interview for the BBC Adam described his character in more detail saying, "When we’re introduced to Mac – at the court during Nevile and Audrey’s high profile divorce case - you don’t know who he is, what he’s doing there, and why he does what he does. He worms his way into Neville’s life and becomes his personal valet through interesting means. It’s quite enigmatic and mysterious – that’s how it’s meant to be for the audience too. Mac has a bit of a troubled past and as with all Agatha Christie characters he’s has a secret which unravels slowly during the story. He’s quite a stoic, quiet, man of few words, but calculated at the same time."

Watch Episode 1 on Sunday night at 9pm on BBC One, with the subsequent 2 episodes released weekly at the same time. All 3 episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from Sunday.   Watch the trailer
