The Yard Theatre's final production in its current venue, 'The Glass Menagerie' by Tennessee Williams, opens on Friday night and stars Sharon Small as matriarch Amanda Wingfield.
The play is set in St Louis, Missouri in the 1930s and depicts one family's struggle to survive against a backdrop of 1930s post-Civil War Southern America. Amanda is a middle-aged, former Southern belle, abandoned by her husband and struggling financially, but desperate to give her two twenty-something children the same comforts she had in her youth.
The production, directed by Jay Miller, will be the final one at the theatre's current premises, which will be demolished to make way for a new, purpose-built venue, due to open in 2026.
The play runs until 21st April. Book tickets now.
