Ruth Wilson's 'astonishing' new play 'The Second Woman' took place over 24 hours at the Young Vic this weekend. The gruelling play saw Wilson act out a variation of the same scene with 100 different men, none of whom she had rehearsed with.
The 100 men were of different shapes, sizes, ages and ethnicities and were mainly amateurs, but did include some famous actors including Gangs of London's Sọpẹ́ Dìrísù. Afterwards he described the experience on Instagram as "the height of theatre and will undoubtedly be the best show of the year.”
The Evening Standard described the performance as "surprisingly funny and the cumulative experience a remarkable one for the audience, which became more raucous and enthusiastic as the hours ticked by, like a festival crowd. It never, ever becomes boring. What a performer, and what a great London event".
Other famous actors who took part included Wilson's Luther co-star Idris Elba as well as Ben Whishaw and Toby Jones.
