'Wearing My Mother's Heart' is performance poet Sophia Thakur's latest collection of poems, which is out today, Thursday 3rd November.
The powerful collection of poems explores what it means to be a woman, intergenerational relationships, finding your voice and learning to speak out.
This is her second book of poems, following her number one bestseller 'Somebody Give This Heart a Pen' which was published in 2019 and was declared as "uplifting, brave and quietly devastating” by Stylist Magazine.
The poems in the new collection look at themes including race, politics, relationships, mental health and self-love, weaving together the voices of a grandmother, mother and daughter. The synopsis reads "Encompassing love, from first crush to break-up, the history that comes before us, and the brave moments that make us, this collection will resonate with all young women as they approach the joys and pain of adulthood and learn to navigate life".
