Spoken word artist and poet Sophia Thakur has written and created a poetic new short film which explores the roots of homecoming and why so many of her friends and family are moving back to Ghana. The film, entitled 'Home', is part of a series of 5 pilot videos on BBC Reel from some of the most exciting emerging talent on the BBC’s radar, described as "bringing a fresh take to digital storytelling with a focus on diverse voices and new perspective."
The opening sequence begins by saying, "In 2019 1.1 million people from around the world travelled to Ghana. Some came to discover where their ancestors lived 400 years prior...some to discover themselves...and some to discover Home."
