Pilot episode won a BAFTA in 2020, followed by a six-part series in 2021. The show is written by comedian Sophie Willan, is based on her own childhood and set in Bolton.
The show follows aspiring actress Alma, who grew up in care, and takes a thoughtful but hilarious look at poverty, addiction, family and a woman with dreams. Sophie starred as Alma, alongside Siobhan Finneran as Alma's mother Lin.
Amy Gledhill had a major role playing Lesley, with Matilda Freeman playing Alma's mother Lin as a teenager.
