Matilda Freeman shot to fame playing Summer Spellman on ‘Coronation Street’, joining the cast in 2017 and appearing regularly in the show until 2020.  Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Young Actor in the British Soap Awards. 

In 2024 she starred as one of the series leads, Lily Wells, in the ITVX darkly comic thriller series ‘Passenger’ which alongside Wunmi Mosaku, David Threlfall and Daniel Ryan.  She will soon be filming for the live-action, animation film ‘Animal Friends’ which will star Ryan Reynolds and Vince Vaughn. 

Other roles include playing Lilly in the 2019 fantasy feature film ‘The Last Boy’ as well as playing Alma’s mother Lin as a teenager in the BAFTA and RTS winning BBC comedy series ‘Alma’s Not Normal.  She also played Leila in the Sister produced sci-fi thriller series ‘The Power’ for Prime Video, which starred Toni Colette. 

Matilda is from Chester and has a primarily Neutral British accent with hints of Lancashire however she is an accent chameleon and has used a wide array of UK and US accents in her work. In Passenger her character has a Burnley (Lancashire accent), in Alma's Not Normal, she used a Mancunian accent and in Coronation Street she used a Neutral accent. Her character work is of a high standard and she can mimic voices and most accents.
