Channel 4's hit comedy series 'Everyone Else Burns' returns to our screens with a second series tonight at 10pm. The RTS winning comedy sees the return of the Lewis family, an average Manchester family, except that they are part of an ultra-religious Christian sect.
Amy James-Kelly stars as Rachel, the teenage daughter of David (played by Simon Bird) and Fiona (played by Kate O’Flynn). The new series sees Rachel continue to try and live her life like a 'normal' teenager - but when David starts to encourage her to think about an arranged marriage this becomes increasingly challenging. The new series also sees Rachel learning to drive, a memorable filming experience for Amy, "’I've had full days on set with Simon behind the wheel of the wonderful yet ridiculous Nissan Sunny which has no power steering and the clutch is really high."
Amy reveals more about what is in store for Rachel saying, "We start series two with a little bit of rebellion; she’s trying to be as independent as she can in a world that does not allow her to be. She starts vaping and trying to learn to drive. She trains to be a paramedic, but this is all done in secret and covers up her need to drive with wanting to be an upstanding member of society. It’s all about trying to find her feet. She’s also encouraged to meet other people and have sit down chats with members of the opposite sex under the watchful eye of Elder Samson."
Amy's performance in Series 1 earned her a nomination in the Breakthrough Talent category at the prestigious Edinburgh TV Awards last year.
Watch the trailer for the new series and tune in to Channel 4 tonight at 10pm for a double bill. The series will also be available to stream on Channel 4.com.
