Amy James-Kelly is a British actress best known for her starring role as Hannah in the critically acclaimed 'Three Families' on BBC One which tells the compelling real stories behind the abortion laws in Northern Ireland.  She is also known for her recurring role as Suzannah Washington in both Series One and Two of the acclaimed BBC/HBO period drama series 'Gentleman Jack'.

In 2023 she stars in Channel 4's irreverent new comedy series 'Everyone Else Burns'. Set in Manchester, she plays 17-year-old Rachel, the daughter of ultra-puritanical parents who are dedicated followers of a religious sect.

In 2022 she starred as Anne Boleyn in Netflix's 'Blood, Sex and Royalty' about the doomed second wife of Henry VIII.  The 3-part 16th century docu-drama told the story of Anne Boleyn from her own perspective and combined it with the views of historians to present a "sexy, action-packed, high stakes" portrayal of her relationship with her husband.

Amy began her career on 'Coronation Street' as troubled teenager, Maddie and from there she went on to star as Jenny in Harlan Coben's Netflix original 'Safe', series 9 of Jimmy McGovern's acclaimed BBC drama series 'Moving On' and as Sarah in 'Military Wives'.  She also recently starred in series two of ITV's crime drama 'The Bay', set in Morecambe Bay.

Having trained at The Manchester School of Acting, Amy has also embarked on her own filmmaking projects as director, writer and producer. Her debut short film, 'Last Summer' was shortlisted at the Manchester International Film Festival and the Cardiff Mini Film Festival. She also played Girl in 'Girl Alone' another successful short by Old Hall Films with virtually no dialogue, told in reverse. For this she won two best actress awards and the film scooped a plethora of trophies and praise at festivals internationally.

Amy’s native accent is a soft, generic Northern and she is particularly versatile in other accents which include Manchester, Yorkshire, Neutral British/Southern, RP, Dublin, Belfast, general American and Southern States American. She has used all these accents in screen roles such as Three Families (Northern Irish), Military Wives (soft Northern), Coronation Street (Manchester), Neutral/Southern British (Safe) all of which can be heard in her visual showreels below.
