Celine Buckens has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her mesmerising role as the spoilt, rich murder suspect Talitha Campbell in this year's BAFTA TV Awards. The five part drama from World Productions was shown on BBC One last year with Celine playing the 'rude and entitled' daughter of a wealthy property developer who is charged with murder when her fellow university student is found dead.
When asked about playing the deeply unlikable character Celine said , "I like the fact that she’s flawed. I like the fact that we’ve got to a stage where the female characters that we have on screen don’t just have to be these strong, really likeable characters. They can be complex and real, and that means warts and all. People kind of hate my character, but that’s OK."
Her role in the series was critically acclaimed, with Metro describing her performance as "a potentially star-making performance, and one of the finest from a young actor we’ve seen in 2021. A real gem, capable of leading any series."
Celine posted on Instagram that she was "delighted" with the nomination. The Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 8th May at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank and will be televised on BBC One.
