Céline had her first big break in 2011 at the age of 15 when she was cast by Steven Spielberg as Emilie in the award-winning epic ‘War Horse’. The role earned her an Empire Award nomination for Best Female Newcomer.
She is also known for her 2021 starring role in the BBC/World Productions drama 'Showtrial', in which she played the lead role of Talitha Campbell, the 'rude and entitled' daughter of a wealthy property developer who is charged with murder when her fellow university student is found dead. Carol Midgley in The Times heaped praise on her performance saying, “Céline Buckens somehow manages to make the lead rich bitch Talitha obnoxious yet not entirely unsympathetic; rude and selfish yet also oddly charismatic. It is a mesmerising performance in which, slowly, Talitha shows vulnerability, at times becoming almost likeable (but not quite)." She received nominations for Best Actress at the 2022 International Emmy Awards and Best Supporting Actress at the 2022 BAFTA TV Awards for the role.
In late 2023 she starred in the major Paramount Plus drama series 'The Castaways', playing Erin, the sister of Sheridan Smith's character Lori, who together embark on a dream holiday to Fiji, but it all goes terrifyingly wrong when the plane carrying Lori crashes into the Pacific. In 2022 she starred in another drama series for Paramount Plus, the psychological thriller 'The Ex Wife', playing wife Tasha, who despite appearing to have the perfect life, has to tolerate her husband's ever-present ex-wife.
She featured prominently in Netflix’s teen series ‘Free Rein’ as well as appearing alongside an all-star cast in the 2019 Warner Bros film ‘The Good Liar’. Most recently she has starred in Cinemax’s ‘The Warrior’ and also as Kitty Langham in the hugely successful Netflix period drama ‘Bridgerton’.
