Claire Rushbrook will play Lady Monica Baddingham in a new Disney+ adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals

The all-star line up of Disney+'s new adaptation of Jilly Cooper's Rivals has been announced, with Claire Rushbrook playing the role of Lady Monica Baddingham.  She will star as the dependable, upper crust wife of TV boss Lord Tony Baddingham (played by David Tennant), who has absolutely no interest in her husband's empire.

The story is set in the fictional county of 'Rutshire' in 1986 in the cut throat world of independent television, in particular Corinium Television, jointly owned by Lord Tony Baddingham and his rival the renowned Rupert Campbell-Black.  The story follows the intense rivalry of two egotistical and ambitious but hugely charismatic men, and the women they love. Alex Hassell will star as Campbell-Black.  Other cast members include Danny Dyer and Emily Atack.

Author and executive producer Jilly Cooper has spoken of her delight in the stellar cast saying, ""I’m utterly enchanted to be able to announce our all-star line-up for Rivals. Featuring some of the best acting talent that the British Isles has to offer, I couldn’t have dreamed of a better ensemble cast. I cannot wait to be on set and see them bring the characters I love so much to life".

The 8-part series is filming in Bristol during 2023 and is likely to be released in early 2024.
